Sustainable Travel

At Stonehouse Court, we are committed to building a more sustainable future!

Having been awarded a ‘silver’ Green Tourism award, we pride ourselves on our efforts to minimise our impact on our planet.

How we do it:

Using refillable eco toiletries

Committing to using a 100% renewable electricity supply

Ensuring that we reduce, reuse and recycle

Continuously finding new ways to reduce our carbon footprint

Supporting our local community and celebrating the beauty of our natural environment

Looking at ways to reduce our water consumption

We are encouraging biodiversity through our “bug hotel” as opposed to “bee hotel”. In terms of “Save the Bees” - we have also created a wild flower area to help our bees. We could also add about protecting and supporting our new signets on the canal.

This year, we’re looking at sustainable travel and ‘green’ activities,
to help our guests come on our eco-friendly journey!

70% of tourism carbon emissions come from transport, which is why at Stonehouse Court we actively encourage sustainable and active travel. We’ve put together a nifty guide to sustainable travel and local activities to help our guests come on our eco journey with us!

If you're coming to see us, why not take public transportation instead of driving? With a direct train link from London to Stonehouse, as well as stations in Stroud, and Cam & Dursley, you can visit us by train to reduce your carbon footprint.

Alternatively, there are plenty of bus stops in the local area that are around a 10-minute walk from the hotel — perfect for reducing the number of vehicles on our roads. To help find a route that suits you, try downloading the Moovit App!

If you’re looking to use sustainable travel to explore our surroundings, consider hiring a bicycle from The Bike Works or Slimbridge Adventure Hire.

Promoting shared transportation is another way we strive to achieve hotel sustainability and our culinary team sets an excellent example by embracing carpooling as their preferred mode of transportation.

By sharing rides to and from work, our chefs reduce the number of individual vehicles on the road, minimising carbon emissions and easing traffic congestion.  We also encourage our staff members to consider cycling as a sustainable commuting option. With dedicated bike racks and changing facilities, we provide a supportive infrastructure that enables employees to cycle to work, which our garden maintenance team uses every day.

Stonehouse is served by Stagecoach West Services 62, 64 and 65 with routes available to Stroud, Bussage, Gloucester, Kingsway, Cheltenham and The Stanleys.

There are some beautiful villages and areas across the Stroud Region that are well worth visiting, all of which can be easily accessed during a stay with us at Stonehouse Court Hotel.

For more information on timetables, take a look at the Stagecoach website.

At Stonehouse Court, we understand the importance of supporting greener transportation options.

In line with our commitment to sustainability and providing modern amenities, we’re delighted to show the local electric charging points for our environmentally conscious visitors.

Whether you’re staying with us for business or leisure, our conveniently located charging points ensure that your vehicle is always powered up and ready to go.

Take a look at our map to discover your nearest charging options:
